Northeastern University

Liberty Battalion Army ROTC

Welcome

The Liberty Battalion invites you to explore our alumni website. The purpose is to provide every alumnus the opportunity to remain connected to your program.

You will find the History of the host, Northeastern University, as well as the of our long standing partners at Boston College and Other Schools in the Boston area. Be sure to review what your ROTC program is accomplishing today in our recent Success Stories.

In order to serve you better, we are collecting information from every class and our current information is listed under Contacts list. Our goal is to provide you another avenue in which to maintain ties to your alma mater.

I hope you will find a review of our program a positive reflection of your past. In the Foreword below, your fellow alumnus addresses several possibilities for establishing and Alumni Association. At a minimum, please consider Registering and helping us identify previous Graduates and Cadre from your time in the program. We look foreword to hearing from you and the Liberty Battalion stands ready to assist you in every way. I welcome your return and hope to meet you in the future.

Wanted: Alumni Mentors!

Do you remember your days as a Cadet at Northeastern and all the questions you had about what it would be like on Active Duty; or should I go Infantry or Finance Corps? Or if Fort Hood or Fort Bragg would be a good choice for your first assignment? Our Cadets today have the same questions. Others are looking for contacts in order to find a great co-op job; or follow-on civilian career advice (for RC officers), or just life experiences from someone who has been there, done that.

Perhaps you currently serving overseas in OIF/OEF as a Platoon Leader, Company Commander, or in any capacity where you have garnered valuable lessons learned you could share with our Cadets. That is where the ROTC Alumni Mentorship program comes in!

Volunteer to become a mentor to a current cadet at [school]. We will then pair you up with one of the Cadets who is looking for a mentor – either by career field / branch interests; or by geography, or other factors. To start, all we need is an e-mail address and some basic information – your “Class of” graduation year, Major, current Army Branch and Duty Station; or – civilian occupation and location. As we have Cadets with questions or requesting a mentor assignment, we’ll pair you up and the Cadet will initiate contact you via e-mail. Then you take it from there.

The mentor-mentee relationship may be 100% over cyberspace; or, if you are local, might include anything from contact at ROTC events, to outings, to dinners in your home. Past alumni mentors have developed enduring relationships with Cadets that have lasted well after their graduation. Some have attended the Cadet’s branch “pinning” as an MS 4 and been on hand for their commissioning as a 2LT.
